About Arbor Hills Golf Club

The Course

Arbor Hills Golf Club is a great course to play for all levels of golfers, which is why it`s also an excellent course for outings. It can be challenging enough for the scratch player, but also a relaxing and fun time for everyone who plays golf. Our course was classically designed in 1925 by famed architect Donald Ross`s protge, Mr. Arthur Hamm.

You`ll find that our fairways are lined with lindens, birch, oaks, walnuts and tall Scotch and white pines. This makes for beautiful scenery, but it`s also something to keep in mind as you pull your driver out of your bag. On most holes, it`s important to avoid many of the trees as well as stay below the hole on our fast greens! This is a parkland style layout where the rough is kept low and finding your ball is easy. You will enjoy the great country club quality conditions along our beautifully manicured fairways and greens.

One of our most scenic holes on the front nine is the par-3 No. 3 (191 yards from the back and 166 from the front). You`ll be hitting from tee boxes set about 35 feet above the green. Your shot is downhill, so take some time to judge the wind as you stand on the tee. Even though it looks as if you will need a lot of club to hit the green, taking one club less will provide the best results on this deceptive hole. Then it`s on to the 4th, an intriguing par-4 (390 yards from the back and 301 from the front). You can use driver off the tee, but some players take a three wood for the shot because of the creek that runs into the fairway here. You may want to lay up in front of that creek and then take a wedge in. Long hitters have been known to carry the creek.

Another water hole is the par-3 5th (138 yards from the back and 107 from the front. The creek here lies about 15 to 20 yards from the green. If you catch a gust of wind, you can end up in the water. To the right and left stand huge oak trees. So you need a precise shot to the green. If you go too far, you`ll land in the bunker in the back.

As you make the turn, you`ll encounter a scenic par-3, no.10 (170 from the back tees and 154 from the front) with a great view of the two-tiered green guarded by bunkers.

Our longest par-5 is the 12th, playing at 576 yards from the back and 392 from the front. The fairway here is only about 25 yards wide. Only the longest hitters in the game can reach this monster in two!

Our 18th hole, a par-5 playing at 516 yards from the back and 455 from the front. This hole is a dogleg right and you can use your driver to help make the green in two if you can hit to the right spot off the tee. But if you miss the long narrow fairway, a birdie may elude you. There are great views here of the three bunkers guarding the green. With the clubhouse in the background, this provides an ideal setting to finish a great round or settle a tight match!
